Wooden Copper Hearts
I made these little hearts from a fallen pear tree. As the tree was dead the bark is easy to remove. I soaked the bark for a few hours in warm soapy water to clean. I then let the wood dry, but it was still a little damp when I hand-removed some of the bark from the inside making it thin enough to work with. I then placed my heart template onto the wood and marked where I would cut out my shapes. The bark was thin enough to be cut accurately with scissors. I then painted them with fast dry enamel "copper B32". As the shapes dry they will curve, twist and crack... But I think that all adds to the shabby chic look!

Have a go at making the Bleubell Wood Cupcake!
Step 1. Draw out a design for the cupcake using a 6B pencil. Rub this design onto 7mm MDF or wood of choice, then cut the shape out using a hand jigsaw (if you dont have a jigsaw I can recommend http://www.craftshapes.co.uk/ They have some cupcake shapes that will also look great for this!
Step 2. Once you have cut the shape of the cupcake you will need to give it a sand with light sandpaper. Remember to remove all dust before next step!
Step 3. Mix PVA glue with some water (50/50) and brush once over the shape. Leave to dry for about 20mins. This will give a good surface before painting.
Step 4. Paint with water based paint (the deepest colour first from the ones you have chosen.)
Step 5. With the lighter colour paint in the cream and the cupcake case. Once this is dry, run the cupcake under warm water to remove some of the paint and give the cupcake a "shabby chic" look! Let the cupcake dry and use glitter glue on the shabby area where the wood has come through, I use a product called "glitz it" because it's non toxic and safe for children to use. Decorate the cupcake like the one I've made or try something new... And send me the pictures!
Step 6. Relax and enjoy looking at beautiful cupcakes!!
